2021 10 Year Celebration Weekend
2021 10 Year Celebration Weekend
After we closed the book on the 24th week of 2021 we left space for one more chapter.
After marking our 10th full season of camping at The Great Divide we decided to throw one more party to celebrate with our PHRIENDS and Families! Uncle Shoehorn gave us a Friday Night to never forget with a funky dance party the likes of which you have never seen! Kevin was back to light up the stage like only he knows how to with a beautifully balanced set of beams. A few more rounds of screams from the Barn to capture its last weekend of frights led into a late evening of great music. Chris Kelly supplied a crisp clean set of soundwaves for all our beloved campers to ride into the Winter on. Thank you to everyone who contributed creatively to make this Friday night so spectacular! A special THANKS to Homer’s Girls Food Truck for an incredible menu and staying late to serve us a tremendously delicious dinner!
With a looming forecast on the horizon for the weekend we took every precaution we could.
Sprung for the 30’ by 60’ tent, moved vendors to dry places, covered as many things with pop up tents as we possibly could. Every other weekend this much effort would have made mother nature take the weekend off and go torment some other poor souls. However, we were not so lucky this weekend, due to BLUEOX rocking a Saturday Matinee so hard the skies ruptured and let loose their tears of joy for our celebration. The timing could only have been 45 minutes better to let them finish their set. Two special guests though lucked out swimmingly as a GIANT LED Robot spent an hour dancing and taking photos before Wilson the TGD Mascot came through right before the rain storm. The day was amazing despite the rain and thus proved the tenacity of not only TGD but the whole community in the face of adversity we chose to party!
Thank you to Mi Bois for supplying an incredible lunch for us. The food was spectacular!
A sad but well earned conclusion to the ride of 2021
Wrapping up 2021 takes a lot more than a neat little bow. It involves blood, sweat and tears, those of joy, sadness, pain and laughter, to name a few. All tears are healthy for cleansing the soul. The blood and sweat came from the hard work that goes into the enjoyment. There is the hard work of the staff to present the atmosphere expected at TGD. As well the hard work put on by our campers to get here and add to that atmosphere their own breath of fresh air.
The ride this season took everyone on was exhilarating, unpredictable and deeply fulfilling.
All along the way new faces were brought into our community and blended seamlessly with the family we are so grateful for. Seasonals, monthly’s, RVers, tenter, renters and staff all came together to blow past the bar set by 2020.
While this means a new bar has been set for 2022 if there is one thing COVID has taught us here is that there is no telling what will happen when we all share in The Great Divide Groove.
