2021 Phish Opener, Welcome Back Weekend
2021 was a roller coaster in every sense of the word.
Peaks and valleys are viewed as positive or negative through a respective lens. If you enjoy a negative depiction of life you will want to leave or at least throw on your rose colored glasses as this review of 2021 is oozing with positivity.
We were fortunate to come across an army of new rentals to add to our blossoming armada of “Kinda Campers”Coincidentally, a more consistent snowfall than recent years came in the same breath and left the campground covered in 30 inches of snow. In order for us to open we had made ourselves a small icy mountain to summit. In true TGD fashion, we threw on our climbing gear, grabbed a billy goat and got to climbing.
Despite a pandemic turned endemic and an equally crippling employment shortage we found a few new integral family members to add to our staff. In addition, there was a shake up and restructuring to the team we had that led to a new twist on The Great Divide. The natural growth brought on by COVID prompted more outside live music performances as well as attracted a large family of campers in 2020. This set the bar tremendously high for 2021 but when the dust settled from the tricycle races, we had leapt that bar in a single heroic bound.

Phish Opener, Welcome Back Weekend
The season opened with an incredible performance from the talented Phish Tribute band Divided Sky. Despite frigid air, whirling winds and a hard pressed campfire ban there was all the makings for a let down of night one. However, despite all the elements the whole crew showed up to jam and oh my lawn boy how they jammed. With microfiber cloths wrapped around the mics to cancel out the wind everyone sang their hearts out and gave the audience a show for the ages! Through frozen digits the band played a fluid melody of music that kept the crowd dancing away through the frigid air.
Saturday was just as cold but the harsh winds had mellowed for a wonderful kids’ set of Phish from Uncle Ebenezer. Following that morning set came an afternoon acoustic set from Adam and Dave and the Divided Duo. Crafts, painting and lawn games led into a stellar evening performance from Uncle Ebenezer.
With conditions calming and becoming more welcoming the band jammed out the night sending us grooving into a solid 2021 of camping.
